It goes without saying that Sunn O))) is one of the most important metal bands in the context of "contemporaly modern music". *1
Here is their live album 2007 with the title "Dømkirke" to be created at Bergen Domkirke in Norway. This Cathedral was not broken in the middle of a devastated country under the German invasion which begann from 10 June 1940. German infrantry, burning and inpoverishing the villages in Norway, finally was ejected by resistances to be organized of soldiers from Lapland, soviet etc..
This work includes "Cannon", a noun has polysemy, refering to the Classic norm or Standard style on the one hand, so Eduardo Rivadavida noted. *2
Looking backward from 2020, I remark a connection of this album with their another masterpiece "Kannon -観音-" 2015. This album was understood by Stephen O'Malley himself as inspirated from Buddhism opposing to the sublime aesthetics embedded into the western masculine tradition. But as Thom Jurek pointed in his review that the third track of "Kannon" is studio version is more harmonically re-composed. *3
So now we could listen to and interpret this metal album again from these points of view.
